The Zoning Hearing Board (ZHB) is a quasi-judicial board consisting of three (3) members who each serve a three (3) year term. Members of the ZHB must reside within the municipality.  The Board of Supervisors appoints the members, but the members act as an independent board.

The purpose of the Board is to hear appeals on the validity of the zoning ordinance, the zoning map, or any decision of the Zoning Officer. In addition, the Board holds power to grant variances from requirements of the zoning ordinance and special exceptions.

The ZHB normally meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Freedom Township Municipal Building.  All meetings can be found on the event’s calendar.
