The Agricultural Security Area Advisory Committee consists of three (3) active farmers, each representing a different private or corporate farm, one (1) citizen residing within the municipality, and one (1) member of the governing body of the municipality who shall serve as the chair of the committee. 

The members of the committee shall be appointed by and shall serve at the pleasure of the chair of the governing body. The members shall serve without salary, but the governing body may entitle each such member to reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties. 

The committee shall advise the governing body and work with the local planning commission in relation to the proposed establishment, modification, and termination of an Agricultural Security Area (ASA). In particular, the committee shall render expert advice relating to the desirability of such action, including advice on the nature of farming and farm resources within the proposed ASA and the relation of farming in the Area to the municipality as a whole.
